Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Gripp Score work?
Your Gripp Score is based on your body weight, your best hang time, your age, and the score baseline tied to your selected gender or baseline. It’s designed to give you a fairer way to compare grip performance across different people.
How do I unlock my Gripp Score?
You’ll need to add your body weight and gender or score baseline, complete at least 3 dead hangs, and finish the required unlock challenge. Once those milestones are done, your score can be revealed.
Why do you ask for my body weight and gender?
That information helps Gripp calculate your score more fairly. If you choose a gender option that doesn’t directly map to the score system, you can select the baseline you want Gripp to use.
What’s the difference between an active and passive hang?
An active hang means your shoulders are engaged and supported while you hang. A passive hang means you’re relaxed more fully into the joints and tissues. In both, your arms stay straight, but active hangs usually feel more stable and controlled.
What counts as a dead hang in Gripp?
A dead hang means hanging from the bar with straight arms, no swinging, and controlled form. You should really try staying still and giving your best effort.
Why hasn’t my Gripp Score updated yet?
Your score usually updates after profile changes that affect scoring, like body weight or gender/baseline, and when you improve your relevant personal best. If you haven’t hit the unlock requirements yet, the score may still stay locked.
This is still very much in alpha and we will continue to make improvements over time.
What does my Gripp Score level mean?
Your score is grouped into levels like Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, and beyond. These labels help you understand where your grip strength currently sits and how much room you have to improve.
What is Gripp Age?
Gripp Age is a simplified way of showing how your grip performance compares to your actual age. A lower Gripp Age suggests stronger grip performance relative to the baseline.
What’s the difference between a personal best and my Gripp Score?
Your personal best is your best result on a specific movement, like your longest hang. Your Gripp Score is a broader number calculated from that performance plus profile details like weight, age, and baseline.
Can I change my username?
Yes. You can update your username in Account Settings. Usernames must be unique and can only contain letters, numbers, and underscores.
Can I make my profile private?
Yes. You can switch your profile to private in your profile settings. Private profiles are hidden from public progress views and leaderboards.
Why don’t I appear on the leaderboard?
You may not appear yet if your profile is private, you haven’t completed onboarding, or you don’t have enough activity recorded for that leaderboard category.
What’s the difference between Daily Challenges, Practice, and Training Routines?
Daily Challenges are short day-specific tasks, the practice area has a broader challenge library for practice, and Training Routines are structured sessions made up of multiple items.
How do I delete my profile?
Go to Account Settings and choose Delete account. You’ll be asked to confirm twice because deletion is permanent and your account data can’t be restored.
Will deleting my account erase everything?
Yes. Account deletion is permanent. Your profile and related account data are removed and can’t be recovered afterward.
